Business, Human Rights,
and the Environment in Asia

Accelerating Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Rights

Decisions made today in Asia will impact our planet for generations to come. Together, we must work towards sustainable business practices.

Asia is home to some of the world's fastest-growing economies. But exponential growth has come with its share of dangerous trade-offs. Air pollution, biodiversity loss, deforestation, and climate change not only harm the environment but also impact on human health and well-being. It’s imperative that more companies in Asia operate in a socially responsible and sustainable way.

Country Highlight

Indonesia is developing a curriculum on responsible business practices targeting businesses operating along the Citarum river.

Our priorities are set with data

Over 600 respondents from 21 countries took part in an online survey, hosted by UNDP, UNEP and other partners, to capture perceptions of environmental risks and their relationships to human rights abuses.

They identified air pollution and climate change as their highest priorities.
